We're excited to announce that we will continue providing Student Academic Support in Math and Language Arts once again this school year! Our S.A.S. Program is designed to provide targeted support to students who would benefit from additional instruction in foundational skills to help close learning gaps and boost confidence.
Sessions will focus on personalized strategies to reinforce key skills and concepts in reading, writing, and mathematics. Students will be selected for the program once they've been identified through a combination of classroom performance, teacher recommendations, and review of assessment data.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Start Date: Sessions will take place from Monday, August 18th thru Friday, May 29th
SAS Instructor: Mrs. Maria Elena Alonso, an experienced and extremely competent teacher that has taught several elementary grade levels for over 30 years; (28 years at Highpoint) will be the instructor.
Frequency: Minimum of TWO sessions per week (required); Interventions will take place during the school day, in one-on-one sessions -OR- small-group of two students from the same grade level.
Location: Private Resource Room
Cost: Sessions will be billed monthly, in advance, at a rate of $40 per each 45 minute session.
Program: Fee will include IXL Program and assessments, Woodcock-Johnson assessments, and more!
Attendance:Regular attendance is REQUIRED. Sessions are billed monthly, in advance. There are no make-up sessions for student absences or tardiness. Only sessions cancelled due to instructor unavailibility will be rescheduled. No refunds for days absent.
Documentation:Progress will be monitored regularly, and the child's teacher(s), Highpoint Directors, and their Parents will receive updates monthly and quarterly.
NOTES:
Participation in the program does not replace classroom instruction, nor guarantee improvement in academics or in their grades. The program will serve to fill in educational gaps by offering extra individualized academic support tailored to meet each child’s individual needs.
During SAS sessions, students will not be completing classwork, homework assignments, or projects.
Students participating in SAS will not be attending one or more of the following specials classes: Spanish, Art, Music, or PE. They will not be receiving a grade for these subjects.
