As a private school, part of our mission is to ensure that our students are well groomed and understand the importance of maintaining good personal hygiene. We recognize that boys often enjoy following popular haircut “fads,” but enforcing some styles over others would be challenging and inconsistent. For the sake of uniformity and aesthetics, we kindly ask that you ensure your child follows the grooming policies outlined below.

GROOMING POLICIES
BOYS HAIR:
HAIR STYLES: Boys are prohibited from having shaved heads, curled muffs on top or around the head, hair tails of any length, spikes, mo-hawks, pompadours, or punk-style cuts. Hair cannot be colored, dyed, or hi-lighted.
HAIR LENGTH:Hair has to be at least 1/4” above the collar, ears, and eyebrows at all times. The length of the hair on top of crown may not exceed 2” inches in length.
SHAVED HAIR: Hair may not be shaved with less than a #2 blade. Shaved lines, designs, or patterns are not permitted.Hair cannot be shaved with a “0” or “1” blade in any area of head.
CLEAN HAIR: Hair must be clean, combed neatly, and properly trimmed at all times.
CONSEQUENCES: Students arriving to school with unacceptable hairstyles/haircuts will be sent home. If and when deemed necessary, Hair Gel will be applied at the school throughout the day. Students with unacceptable hairstyles/haircuts will not be allowed to participate in any school sponsored functions or special events during any day of the week.
GIRLS HAIR:
Hair must be kept clean, neat, and well combed at all times.
Hair cannot be colored, dyed or hi-lighted.
Hair accessories for girls must be maroon, gold and/or white only.
JEWELRY:
A maximum of one thin chain with one pendant allowed. These must not be visible and remain inside the shirt.
A maximum of one ring and one thin bracelet is allowed.
Only one small earring allowed in each earlobe. No hoop-style, long or colored earrings allowed.
Jewelry must be kept to a minimum at all times.
We discourage the use of jewelry and will not be held responsible for any lost items.
MAKE-UP/NAIL POLISH:
Nails must be clean and trimmed at all times.
Nail polish and/or gel/acrylic nails are not allowed; these will be removed.
Absolutely no make-up allowed.
UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS:
Daily Uniforms: All Highpoint students are required to wear complete school uniform daily. This includes regulation shoes, black or maroon socks for boys, and white socks with paw for girls.Students not wearing complete uniform will not be allowed in class. Non-uniform attire will be removed.
Phys Ed (K-8th): Phys-Ed uniforms are required on days that PE is scheduled. Students must come to school wearing their complete PE uniforms including solid black rubber-soled athletic shoes; (these may have a white logo or minimal white striping.) Converse-style or other fabric shoes are not allowed.
Spirit Days: All students are required to wear the “Spirit T-Shirts” every Friday. Spirit T-Shirts are sold for $25 in advance as an 8th Grade “Class Trip” Fund-Raiser.Students must wear these t-shirts with their correct uniform bottoms.
Winter attire: Studentsmay wear layers of white or cream colored turtleneck, undershirt and/or nude colored tights (only) UNDERNEATH uniform during cold days. ONLY maroon jackets, sweatshirts, sweaters with the Highpoint logo may be worn. All other jackets will be removed in the morning. Maroon sweatpantsare permitted ONLY on PE days when the temperature in the morning is 50 degrees or below.
Failure to abide by any uniform policy as stated above may result in a student not being permitted to enter the school, be sent home until the issue is resolved (no accommodations for missed assignments or tests), or resultin further disciplinary action as described in our Behavior Policies.
PERSONAL HYGIENE POLICIES:
All Highpoint students must arrive to school wearing their clean complete school uniform, including uniform shoes and socks, and maroon uniform winter attire if necessary.
Uniform must be clean and pressed.
Nails must be clean and trimmed at all times.
Hair must be clean at all times.
Teeth should be brushed and clean.
Deodorant should be used in cases where body odors are evident.
