As a private school, part of our mission is to ensure that our students are well groomed and understand the importance of maintaining good personal hygiene. We recognize that boys often enjoy following popular haircut “fads,” but enforcing some styles over others would be challenging and inconsistent. For the sake of uniformity and aesthetics, we kindly ask that you ensure your child follows the grooming policies outlined below:
HIGHPOINT'S GROOMING POLICIES
BOYS HAIR:
HYGIENE: Hair must be clean and combed daily.
PROHIBITED HAIR STYLES: Shaved heads, dyed or hi-lighted hair, curled muffs on top or all around, curly hair fades, hair tails of any length, pony tails, spikes, faux or mo-hawks,pompadours, punk style cuts, undercuts, faded haircuts with #0 or #1 blade shaved at the bottom.
HAIR LENGTH:Please inform hairstylist or barber that haircut must be a classic taper as follows:
Hair cannot touch the neck collar at any time.
Hair cannot be shaved in any area with less than a #2 blade.
These shaved cuts are strictly prohibited: Fully shaved heads, #0-1 shaved back of head, crewcuts, buzz cuts, shaved lines, shaved side parts, or any shaved hair design styles.
If hair is shaved with a #2 blade on the sides and back, then length of the hair on top cannot be longer than 1.5 inches or shaved with less than a #4 blade length.
NOTE: Students arriving to school with unacceptable hairstyles/haircuts, or long hair that touches collar, will be sent home. They may also not be allowed to participate in a school function or event. Gel may also be applied at the school throughout the day when deemed necessary.
GIRLS HAIR:
Hair must be kept clean, neat and well combed at all times.
Hair cannot be dyed, colored, hi-lited, or shaved.
Hair accessories for girls must be maroon, gold and/or white only.
JEWELRY:
A maximum of one thin chain with one pendant allowed. These must not be visible and must be maintained inside the polo top.
A maximum of one ring and one thin bracelet is allowed.
Girls only may wear one small earring on each earlobe. No hoop-style, long or colored earrings allowed.
Jewelry must be kept to a minimum at all times.
We discourage the use of jewelry and will not be held responsible for any lost items.
MAKE-UP/NAIL POLISH:
Nail polish of any color and/or Acrylic nails are not allowed; these will be removed with polish remover or acetone.
Only Middle School girls will be allowed to wear clear or translucent nude-colored nail polish. All other nail colors will be removed with polish remover.
Absolutely no make-up allowed. This includes: lip gloss, mascara, eye shadow, eye liners, base, blush, etc.
All Highpoint students must arrive to school wearing their clean complete school uniform, including uniform shoes and socks, and maroon uniform winter attire if necessary.
Uniform must be clean and pressed.
Nails must be clean and trimmed at all times.
Hair must be clean at all times.
Teeth should be brushed and clean.
Deodorant should be used in cases where body odors are evident.
