2025 SUMMER ASSIGNMENTS

NOTE: Students in 2nd-8th Grade will be tested on their Summer Reading Novel at the start of the school year. ​
All students entering 1st thru 8th Grade in 2025-2026 are required to practice their reading skills with an assigned novel over the summer break. In addition to the reading, students will be required to complete 24 IXL Practice Skills (includes practice for both MATH & LANGUAGE ARTS). See below for more details on this year's "Summer Review" requirements.

Summer Novel Reading:
For the reading comprehension practice portion of the Summer Review, Guided Reading questions have been provided (below) to help students keep track of understanding as they read. These questions do NOT have to be answered on paper, nor do they have to be submitted! They are to be used to monitor understanding only. 

Note: Students in 2nd thru 8th Grade will be tested on their novels within the first week of school. 

IXL Math and Language Arts Assignments:
Students have been assigned 12 IXL Practice Skills for Math and 12 IXL Practice Skills for Language Arts as part of their Summer Review. These skills will appear under the "Recommended from your Teacher" tab.

Students will be required to complete all assigned skills before returning to school in the Fall. Students will receive a completion grade for completing their IXL Practice Skills by the back to school due date with a satisfactory grade of 80% or above. 

NOTE: We highly recommend students continue to practice IXL Skills that are listed under the "Recommendation" tab in addition to the skills that are required for Summer Review. Those skills are assigned by IXL at your child's academic level. Those exercises offers students both an opportunity to reinforce learned skills and practice individual skills they may need further development in.

Access to IXL:
All CURRENT Highpoint Students have access to IXL using the same log in credentials they used during the school year.

All NEWLY ENROLLED Highpoint Students must contact the Main Office to request their log-in credentials.

Summer Reading Novels & Guided Reading Questions
IXL Practice Skills
Please click on the button ABOVE to be automatically directed to Highpoint Academy's IXL Log-in portal to access your child's assigned IXL Practice Skills. Once your child logs in, they will see the list of Skills Recommendations for Summer. All Skills selected are from the current year's grade level. For example, a student entering 4th Grade in the Fall of 2025 will be practicing skills learned at the 3rd Grade level.

Special Reminder: 
  • All CURRENT Highpoint Students already have access to IXL using the same log in credentials they used during the school year. 
  • All NEWLY ENROLLED Highpoint Students will receive their login information via email. If you do not receive it by the second week of June, please contact the Main Office to request your child's log-in credentials. ​
This assignment is required.
Students must complete it before classes resume in order to receive credit. ​
